Torino to wear Chapecoense tribute shirts

To mark the first anniversary of the Chapecoense air disaster, Torino will wear green shirts when they play Atalanta in Serie A on Saturday. Torino will wear green shirts for their Serie A match against Atalanta on Saturday to honour the first anniversary of the Chapecoense air disaster. Last November, a plane carrying the Chapecoense squad and backroom staff crashed en route to the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional, killing 71 people on board.

Canterbury sign Ben Stokes as overseas player

Canterbury have signed England allrounder Ben Stokes as their overseas player. Stokes will be available for selection for Canterbury's 50-over Ford Trophy match against Otago in Rangiora on Sunday. Stokes' inclusion was agreed upon by Canterbury Cricket Association and the ECB, and was sanctioned by New Zealand Cricket, a release from the association said. The Canterbury cricket board held an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss the prospect of signing Stokes. Canterbury coach Gary Stead welcomed Stokes' signing.

ATK's Jayesh Rane to return from injury in a week

Rane's loss through injury was devastating for ATK and for the entire Indian football scene since his talent has shone through lately. His return will be welcomed with open arms by all involved at ATK. ATK face Jamshedpur FC in their next match and while they will have to do without the services of Rane in this game, they will hope that their morale is high thanks to the welcoming news of his impending return.

Bengaluru FC to meet Transport United FC in AFC Cup Qualifier

The first leg will be held at the Changlimithan Stadium in Thimpu on January 23. The return leg will be organised at the Kanteerava Stadium on January 30. The ISL franchise qualified for the 2018 AFC Cup by virtue of being the Federation Cup champions. Bengaluru FC had a good run in the 2016 edition, finishing as runners-up after losing to Iraq's Air Force Club. In this year's edition, they went down 2-3 on aggregate to FC Istiklol in the AFC Cup Inter-Zonal Final

India U-17 forward Komal Thatal reportedly offered to Kerala Blasters

Thatal was earlier linked to FC Pune City and ATK in the ISL and also turned down a deal from Minerva Punjab FC, who also offered him a guarantee of playing him in a minimum of 10 matches. It is also understood that he rejected an offer from a second division club in Turkey in favour of an ISL move. The youngster is still without a club so far but is expected to sign for an ISL side in the near future, something that his agent has made clear.

Kolkata Derby offline ticket sales to start on Thursday

The high-voltage derby between the arch-rivals Mohun Bagan and East Bengal is all set to kick off in at 2 pm on Sunday. The tickets will hit the offline counters on Thursday 11 am. Tickets can be purchased from offline counters until Saturday 6 pm, the day before the match.  Both the clubs were against playing at 2 pm, but they had no other option, as two ISL games are also scheduled to take place on the same day, at 5.30 pm and 8 pm respectively.

Dortmund lose Gotze for six weeks

Peter Bosz is already fighting to save his job at Borussia Dortmund and now the coach will be without Mario Gotze for the next six weeks. Borussia Dortmund's Mario Gotze will be out for six weeks after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday's 4-4 Ruhr derby draw against Schalke. Gotze scored Dortmund's third goal as they raced into 4-0 lead after just 25 minutes of the Bundesliga clash at Signal Iduna Park. But the Germany international had to be replaced by Gonzalo Castro in the 78th minute as Schalke came roaring back to earn a point away to their bitter local rivals. Dortmund announced on Twitter that Gotze will be sidelined "due to a ligament tear in the upper and lower right ankle for six weeks".

Sassuolo replace boss Bucchi with Iachini

Sassuolo boss Cristian Bucchi followed Vincenzo Montella out of the Serie A exit door on Monday and has been replaced by Giuseppe Iachini. Vincenzo Montella was not the only Serie A head coach to find himself out of a job on Monday after Sassuolo sacked boss Cristian Bucchi. Former Sampdoria and Palermo coach Giuseppe Iachini has been brought in as Bucchi's replacement and will address the media on Tuesday.

Southee to miss West Indies Test

Tim Southee will miss New Zealand's first Test against West Indies as he awaits the birth of his second child. Black Caps coach Mike Hesson confirmed the swing bowler would be absent for the match in Wellington, which begins on Friday. Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry are in contention to replace the 28-year-old for the first of two Test matches with the Windies.

Arsenal appoint Barcelona's Sanllehi as head of football relations

After spending 14 years at Barcelona, Raul Sanllehi will join Arsenal as the Premier League club's head of football relations. Sanllehi, director of football at Barca and credited with bringing Neymar to the club, will relocate to the Emirates Stadium in February to take up his new role.

ATK reportedly join race to sign Indian U-17 forward Komal Thatal

Komal Thatal is attracting interest from quite a few clubs at the moment. Two-time  ISL  champions ATK are believed to have entered the race to sign India U-17 sensation Komal Thatal. The forward has already sparked interest from a few I-League clubs and ISL franchise FC Pune City but if reports are to be believed, ATK are now in the driving seat. The 17-year-old also attracted interest from a Turkish second division side but according to his agent, he prefers a move to the ISL. ATK are now strong favourites to sign Thatal as well and it will be interesting to see which side the player will choose while deciding his future. Thatal is one of India's most exciting talents at the moment and is now becoming the subject of a bidding war between ISL sides. Here's hoping he makes the correct choice and makes the most of the opportunity he gets.

FC Pune City rumoured front-runners to sign Indian U-17 star Komal Thatal

The youngster had earlier rejected moves to the I-League and abroad. Indian FIFA U-17 World Cup star Komal Thatal could be all set to join the  ISL 2017   bandwagon after reports suggest that FC Pune City are front-runners to sign the young forward. Earlier, it had been reported   that he had rejected an offer from a second division club in Turkey as well as a deal from I-League side Minerva Punjab FC with the ambition of playing in the ISL.

Italy legend Buffon wins best player award

Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon eased some of his World Cup heartache by winning the Serie A Best Player of the Year award at the Gran Gala del Calcio Awards in Milan. "The failure to participate in the World is the biggest disappointment in my career together with some (lost) Champions league finals," said the 39-year-old Juventus goalkeeper at Monday night's ceremony. Napoli's Maurizio Sarri was named the best coach in the Italian football awards. It is the sixth straight year that a Juventus player has won the award as he follows Andrea Pirlo (2012- 2014), Carlos Tevez (2015) and Leonardo Bonucci (2016). Buffon has said he will retire at the end of this season, unless Juventus win the Champions League title. The Serie A champions play league leaders Napoli on Friday before a crunch Champions League game next week at Olympiakos.

Rangana Herath ruled out of Delhi Test

Jeffrey Vandersay, the Sri Lankan leg-break bowler, will be flown to India as cover for Rangana Herath, who is set to miss the third Test of the ongoing India-Sri Lanka Test series. The 39-year-old Herath complained about back pain after the end of the second Test at Nagpur, having bowled 39 overs in the only innings India batted. The final Test of the series starts on December 2, and will be held at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.

Chennai to host PBL matches

Chennai will host matches in the third edition of Premier Badminton League (PBL) at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from January 5 to 9, 2018. The tournament gets underway on December 23. The finals of the eight-team tournament are slated to be held on January 14, 2018.

Jamshedpur FC star Anas Edathodika confirms injury after Kerala Blasters match

One of India’s finest defenders, Anas Edathodika, has confirmed that he will be out of action for some time, due to an injury, which he sustained during Jamshedpur FC's second  ISL  game against Kerala Blasters at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in Kochi, earlier this week. I will be back, my people. I have faced many challenges in life, and they're nothing new. I'm not done yet, I believe I have got a long way to go, and I can do much better and work harder. I know myself that I’m not that good, but I’m going to put in my 100% to get better. He faced an ankle injury during the match against Kerala Blasters.

FIFA U17 World Cup star Komal Thatal left out of Indian Arrows squad?

Thatal is a wonderful talent. He has scored some amazing goals in the junior levels. Thatal should be at the forefront of the next generation of Indian footballers. Playing for top clubs will give him top-level experience, and if he shines here, he can truly grow as a footballer, and perhaps take India to greater glories.

Buttler joins Sydney Thunder in BBL comeback

England wicketkeeper-batsman  Jos Buttler  will return for a second stint in the Big Bash League, this time with the Sydney Thunder. Buttler is expected to be available for the first six games of the tournament, which starts from December 19, before the start of England's limited-overs series against Australia and the tour of New Zealand. It is a fantastic move by the Thunder to rope in the hard-hitting Englishman who on his day can take apart any bowling attack in the world. Buttler will be aiming to help his side win the trophy they last got their hands on in 2015/16.

Comilla sign 16-year old Afghanistan offspinner Mujeeb Zadran

Comilla Victorians have signed 16-year old Afghanistan offspinner  Mujeeb Zadran  for the remainder of the BPL season. Zadran arrived in Chittagong on Friday, and will be available for their next game against Rajshahi on Saturday. Comilla, currently second on the points table with five wins in six matches, already have two senior Afghanistan players in their squad - Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan.

Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem confirms participation for Indian Arrows

India U17 World Cup star goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem confirmed yesterday that he will represent the Indian Arrows in the upcoming I-League 2017/18. Indian Arrows are yet to announce their squad. They travel to Goa for their opening game against Chennai City FC on 29th November in the GMC Bambolim Stadium at 5:30 PM. The match will be televised on Star Sports 2, HD 2 and Hotstar. India has always produced quality goalkeepers in the past and Dheeraj Singh is surely one in the making. Dheeraj's campaign in the upcoming I-League is very important if he wants to land a deal in Europe in near future.
