AB de Villiers ruled out of T20I series against India

AB de Villiers  has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against India because of an injured left knee. He suffered the injury before the fifth ODI in Centurion, and though he played the last two matches of the 50-over series, Cricket South Africa decided to give him time to make a full recovery ahead of the upcoming Tests against Australia next month. The selectors decided not to name a replacement for the remaining T20s. The second and third T20s will be played on February 21 in Centurion and on February 24 in Cape Town, where India's tour had started in January.

South Africa fined for slow over-rate in 4th ODI

ICC Match Referee Andy Pycroft imposed the fine after Aiden Markram’s side was ruled to be one over short of their target when time allowances were taken into consideration. As such, Markram has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee. If South Africa commit another minor over-rate breach in an ODI within 12 months of this offence with Markram as captain, it will be deemed a second offence by Markram and he will face a suspension. The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Aleem Dar and Bongani Jele, third umpire Ian Gould and fourth umpire Shaun George.

Quinton de Kock ruled out

South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing ODI series and the following T20I series against India due to a wrist injury he suffered when he was batting in the second ODI. It has been confirmed that he will out of action for two-four weeks and is expected to be fit in time for the Test series against Australia. The selectors didn't name any replacement for the left-hander as the Proteas already have Heinrich Klaasen in the squad after he, along with Farhaan Behardien, was called up as a replacement for Faf du Plessis. With the Proteas already 2-0 down in the series, the absence of de Kock will just make their task of making a comeback in the series difficult. Though de Villiers is expected to return for the fourth ODI at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, skipper du Plessis has been ruled out of the series and in his absence, Aiden Markram has been given the responsibility to lead the side.

Temba Bavuma ruled out

Temba Bavuma  will take no part in South Africa's ongoing Test series against India after fracturing his right finger during a domestic one-day cup match on January 17. Bavuma will need three to four weeks of recovery time but will remain part of the Test squad, with the selectors opting not to name a replacement batsman. South Africa already have an extra batsman in  Theunis de Bruyn , who, like Bavuma, has not played in either of the two already completed Tests. Bavuma is expected to recover in time for the four Test series against Australia, which begins on March 1.
