India's pioneering Olympic swimmer Shamsher Khan , 87 , passed away in the Kaithepalle Village In Guntur district on Sunday, after suffering a heart faliure.
Shamsher was the first swimmer from the country to take part in Olympics in 1956. He secured a passage to the Melebourne summer Olympics after creating a national record in the 200m butterfly event.
