Virat Kohli fined for slow over-rate

Royal Challengers Bangalore  captain  Virat Kohli  has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during his team's Indian Premier League match against  Chennai Super Kings  in Bengaluru on Wednesday. He has been fined Rs. 12 lakh because it was RCB's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct related to minimum over-rate offences.

Borren calls time on Netherlands career

Netherlands captain  Peter Borren , 34, has retired from international cricket with immediate effect.  Pieter Seelaar , the 30-year old left-arm spinner, will take over the captaincy. Jeroen Smits, the former Netherlands wicketkeeper, has been appointed the new team manager. Borren had been captain since July 2010, when he took over the role from Smits. Among teams that currently have at least ODI status, the only players with longer ongoing captaincy reigns are Ireland's William Porterfield, and Nepal's Paras Khadka.

Holder to replace Pollard as Barbados Tridents captain

West Indies' Test and ODI captain  Jason Holder  will lead Barbados Tridents in the forthcoming season of the Caribbean Premier League. Holder, who had missed the previous edition due to West Indies' tour of England, will take over captaincy reins from Kieron Pollard. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 8 to September 16 this year, with Trinbago Knight Riders looking to defend their title.

Stanlake leaves IPL 2018 with fractured finger

Billy Stanlake, the Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler, will miss the remainder of IPL 2018 because of a fractured finger. He sustained the injury during Sunrisers' game against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday and has flown back home to Australia for further treatment. Sunrisers have not named a replacement for Stanlake yet and are already grappling with injury concerns to their pace spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar. They do, however, have a strong Indian pace-bowling contingent with Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi, T Natarajan and Khaleel Ahmed waiting on the bench.

Bayern Munich confirm Arturo Vidal out for season after knee surgery

Arturo Vidal will miss the rest of Bayern Munich's season after undergoing knee surgery, the German champions confirmed on Tuesday. Vidal will be able to rest until he returns for Bayern's preseason this summer because Chile failed to qualify for the World Cup. Bayern, who have already won the Bundesliga, begin their Champions League semifinal tie against Real Madrid next week.

KKR name Abhishek Nayar as their mentor

The   Kolkata Knight Riders   have roped in Abhishek Nayar as their mentor. Although his playing career isn't hiking up, his ability as a mentor has drawn KKR's attention. "It's an honour for me and I will try to help the younger players of the team to the best of my abilities," said Nayar. Abhishek Nayar, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, has played for Mumbai in First-Class cricket. He has also represented four teams in his 8-year-long IPL career - Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, Pune Warriors India and Rajasthan Royals.

Rajasthan Royals announce Ish Sodhi as replacement for Zahir Khan

Rajasthan Royals have announced New Zealand bowler, Ish Sodhi, as the replacement for their injured spinner, Zahir Khan. The Afghanistan bowler has been ruled out of the tournament and will not be able to contest in cricket for the next few months. Sodhi will fly to India soon to don the blue jersey of the Royals. However, with the likes of D'Arcy Short, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, and Ben Laughlin already in the RR squad, it might be tough for Ajinkya Rahane to incorporate Sodhi into his playing XI.

Adam Milne replaces Pat Cummins for Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have roped in Kiwi pacer Adam Milne as a replacement for the injured Pat Cummins who was  ruled out of the tournament  due to a bone oedema in his vertebrae which he sustained during the fourth Test against South Africa. Milne will join the strong pace attack of the Mumbai Indians which comprises Jasprit Bumrah, Mustafizur Rahman and Mitchell McClenaghan. This will be Milne's third IPL, having previously played for RCB in the previous two IPL seasons.

Raina to miss next two CSK games with calf injury

Raina will miss a Super Kings match for the first time in his career when he won't appear against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on Sunday and against Rajasthan Royals in Pune on April 20. Raina's absence further depletes a middle order that is already missing Kedar Jadhav, who had been  ruled out of the the tournament  with a hamstring injury. However,  Faf du Plessis  could be available for Sunday's match as he is recovering from a finger injury and a side strain. M Vijay, who had missed the tournament opener against Mumbai because he was hit in the ribs while training before the match, was available for selection for the match against Knight Riders, according to batting coach Michael Hussey, but was not picked. Raina's injury could push Vijay to the top and Ambati Rayudu into the middle order.

Kedar Jadhav ruled out of IPL 2018

Chennai Super Kings allrounder  Kedar Jadhav  has been ruled out of IPL 2018 because of a grade-2 hamstring tear he sustained during the team's tournament opener against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis is nursing an injured finger and is unlikely to feature in Tuesday's game too. His finger injury was aggravated when he took a few blows while batting in the Test series against Australia. He is also recovering from a side strain and could be ready for the third game on Sunday against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. Vijay had missed the tournament opener against Mumbai on Saturday because he was hit in the ribs while training before the match. He is now available for selection for Tuesday's match. Super Kings also lost Mitchell Santner to injury before the tournament began and have not named a replacement for him yet.

Chameera in doubt for West Indies tour, IPL

Fast bowler  Dushmantha Chameera  is in doubt for Sri Lanka's Test tour of the West Indies in June, due to a back complaint. He has also been ruled out of at least the first three weeks of the IPL, and remained in Colombo instead of joining the Rajasthan Royals squad. Further medical tests will determine the exact length of his layoff and recovery.

LIAM PLUNKETT TO REPLACE KAGISO RABADA IN DELHI DAREDEVILS

Delhi Daredevils rope in Liam Plunkett to replace Kagiso Rabada Liam Plunkett, the England fast bowler, has been signed by the Delhi Daredevils as a replacement for the injured South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL), 2018. Delhi Daredevils open their VIVO IPL 2018 campaign with a game against the Kings XI Punjab at Mohali on April 8. 

Domestic legend Devendra Bundela hangs up his boots

The Madhya Pradesh legend made his FC debut against Tamil Nadu in the 1995/96 Ranji Trophy. Veteran Madhya Pradesh batsman, Devendra Bundela, decided to draw the curtain on his illustrious Ranji Trophy career by announcing his retirement from first-class cricket on Saturday (March 31). The 41-year-old has scored 10,004 in FC cricket at an impressive batting average of 43.68. He also has 26 centuries and 54 half-centuries to his name. Despite contesting in the tournament for over two decades, he couldn't win the Ranji Trophy and that would remain the only unchecked box in Bundela's enviable domestic career. The Madhya Pradesh legend made his FC debut against Tamil Nadu in the 1995/96 Ranji Trophy. Since then, he played some exceptional knocks for his team over the years, but could somehow never manage to break into the Indian team. Kagiso Rabada ruled out of tournament

South Africa's Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of IPL 2018 with a back injury. The 22-year-old pacer had recently spoken about increased workload on him in the lead-up to the tournament and was seen struggling with issues in his lower back during the fourth Test between Australia and South Africa. The pacer was picked by Delhi Daredevils using the Right to Match card and was retained for an amount of Rs. 4.2 crore. The injury will rule him out of the game for three months. He is currently the No.1 bowler in the ICC Test rankings.

Irfan Pathan joins J&K in player-cum-mentor role

Irfan Pathan , the former India allrounder, has taken up a new role, that of player-cum-mentor of the Jammu & Kashmir side for the 2018-2019 domestic season. The 33-year-old has played for Baroda right through his Ranji Trophy career, but was dropped and removed as captain after two matches of the 2017-18 domestic season, in which he took two wickets and scored 88 runs. Irfan last represented India at the World T20 in Sri Lanka in 2012. At the IPL, he went unsold at the 2017 and 2018 auctions and last played top-level cricket in October 2017. J&K finished fourth in Group B of the Ranji Trophy last season, losing four of their six matches.

Middlesex sign all-rounder Hilton Cartwright for county season

Australia all-rounder Hilton Cartwright has been signed up by Middlesex for the upcoming county season for at least the first five matches, with the possibility of an extension in his contract. Cartwright has replaced former Australia batsman Adam Voges, who was also his statemate and captain at Western Australia, having also led Middlesex in the previous season of the Championship.

CSK appoint Rajiv Kumar as fielding coach

Two-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings have appointed former Bihar and Jharkhand captain Rajiv Kumar as their fielding coach ahead of the 2018 IPL. Rajiv even captained CSK skipper MS Dhoni at Bihar and Jharkhand before the wicketkeeper-batsman made his debut for the national team. The 41-year-old will replace Steve Rixon as the Men in Yellow's fielding coach and will join the likes of Stephen Fleming, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Mike Hussey, Lakshmi Narayanan etc. in the CSK dugout during the IPL. He already joined the squad a couple of days ago and was seen executing specialised fielding drills for the players. Rajiv has a fair amount of coaching experience in the United Kingdom and was the coach of Jharkhand last season. He was also the coach of India Blue in the Deodhar Trophy that took place earlier this year.

Delhi Daredevils rope S Vidyut into support staff

Delhi Daredevils have acquired the services of former Tamil Nadu cricketer Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan as part of their support staff for their pre-season training camp ahead of IPL 2018. Vidyut, 36, has also played for India A and the Chennai Super Kings in the past and has previous coaching experience, which includes guiding the Tamil Nadu Under-19 side this season. Besides that, he has mentored multiple Chennai cricketers, and even possesses a unique feat of having struck a first-class century batting at number 11. The former left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder often went unnoticed, despite being a part of the India Under-19 side which went on to lift the Under-19 World Cup in 2000 under Mohammad Kaif, a team which also included Yuvraj Singh. The 11th season of the IPL commences on April 7 with defending champions the Mumbai Indians taking on the Chennai Super Kings at home, with the final also scheduled to take place at the Wankhede Stadium on May 27.
